Resources & Support
For our social workers and community members seeking resources and support to continue to serve our community to the best of our abilities. As social workers, our ethics call us to uphold dignity and worth, recognize sociopolitical forces shaping our clients’ lives, and practice with cultural humility. In light of recent events unfolding throughout the state of North Carolina over the past few days, we're sharing critical resources that may be helpful and relevant. Recent Custom and Border Patrol activity is affecting multiple NC communities, and there have been confirmed reports that this will continue to expand. These actions are creating real and immediate impacts. Enforcement activity can heighten trauma, fear of family separation, and barriers to healthcare, mental health care, education, and institutional trust. This is impacting our colleagues, our students, and the communities that we serve.
Below are two sets of resources: the first focused on North Carolina–specific immigration resources, and the second focused on educational social work resources.
